5 Tips to Beating Stress in College

When I was in college, I always wished for days to come by fast, so I could get out of the university.
I thought the stress was too much. But eventually, my peers and I were able to survive. We graduated, and got our diplomas.
Then as I look back, I realized that stress will always be there. That it will come along the way, try as hard as you can to sticking to your to-do list. That it will get to the point you will argue with your friends. That it will make you want to just drop out of college, and not care.
But that if you let it win over, everything ends for you. So you will have to deal with it in the first place.

Identify what's causing stress. Money was a big issue for me back then (well, until now I think). How about you?
Think about the reason why you were feeling so down lately, you can't even concentrate on the term papers you were trying to write since last week.
Is it about the relationship you just ended? Is it about your annoying roommate who does not know how to clean after himself? Is it about your professor who you feel hates you a lot?
Once you identify what is causing the stress, it will be easier for you to manage. You can concentrate on ways you can follow to conquer it.
Sleep. What is one sign that you are badly in need of rest? It is when you think that sleeping is a waste of time. So you stay up late and work on your course works you could have accomplished early on, if not for your procrastination.
We all have had our share of lazy times. But if we submit to laziness every time, tasks would only pile up. So prevent yourself from making excuses, just get started on what you should be doing.
Rest is as essential as eating. You would not be able to function well if your mind is screaming for bed time. Sleeping definitely would not solve your problem, but it will help you set you mind so you can think clearly. Eventually, you will figure a way to solving your problems.
Set feasible goals. When creating your to-do list, look into a task and its estimated completion time.
Some course works can be completed in one sitting such as reaction papers while there are those that require comprehensive research such as thesis or dissertations.
To avoid stress, reserve adequate time for you to finish a task. Cramming lets you finish a task in a breeze, but the results are often not what you desire.
Meet with old friends. You have your good friends in the university. Some are from other colleges, some you met from organizations you joined.
But there are times when you just want to get out of the campus, and be with people that have nothing to do, or are not connected in any way to the college you are in.
And you think of your old friends in high school. Reconnecting with these people once in a while helps you alleviate stress. You feel a lot better because you get to talk about a lot of things not related to college.
Hear from your parents. At first, you think there's no way they could be of help.
They would not be able to relate anyway, and they might only barrage you with their endless questions.
But sometimes, you would prefer to hear them nag about your messy room than listen to your roommates' repeated drama.
